Welcome to 2015! Time for another GCGC Relay!
Here's the SIMPLE rules for this one:
Check back here each week for a list of caches to find. Reply back with which one(s) you have found from the list that week (these need to be new finds for you, of caches you have not found before), and add ONE new cache to the list for next week! Please provide a web link (see below example) for your selected cache.
You get points for the caches you find based on how many weeks the cache you found was on the list. Participate in the Relay, and you get a chance at winning a GEOCOIN!
Here's an EXAMPLE:
The contest will start with several caches chosen by our very own GCGC Lackeys. You have one week to go find as many as you can.
Example:
Week 1 Laundry List
(1) Motley Crue: Home Sweet Home (http://coord.info/GC1K130)
(1) Friendship Garden (http://coord.info/GC2G1MK)
(1) RIAN 93 (http://coord.info/GC2GCM1)
(1) Reptile House (http://coord.info/GCW63Z)
(1) Greenway Imp ((http://coord.info/GC10RDY)
(1) Motley Crue: Home Sweet Home (http://coord.info/GC1K130)
(1) Friendship Garden (http://coord.info/GC2G1MK)
(1) RIAN 93 (http://coord.info/GC2GCM1)
(1) Reptile House (http://coord.info/GCW63Z)
(1) Greenway Imp ((http://coord.info/GC10RDY)
You go out and find some caches from the list: Your submission should look something like:
I found:
RIAN 93
Greenway Imp
I add:
Big Boy Toys (http://coord.info/GC2MDBN)
Let's say only one other cacher found those two, plus Reptile House in the week. They add "Have Your Pudding (http://coord.info/GC1VRZ8)"
A new list is "compiled" every Sunday by a qualified lackey. In this example, the Next Week's List would be:
Week 2 Laundry List
(2) Motley Crue: Home Sweet Home (http://coord.info/GC1K130)
(2) Friendship Garden (http://coord.info/GC2G1MK)
(1) Big Boy Toys (http://coord.info/GC2MDBN)
(1) Have Your Pudding (http://coord.info/GC1VRZ8)
(2) Motley Crue: Home Sweet Home (http://coord.info/GC1K130)
(2) Friendship Garden (http://coord.info/GC2G1MK)
(1) Big Boy Toys (http://coord.info/GC2MDBN)
(1) Have Your Pudding (http://coord.info/GC1VRZ8)
... and so the next round begins!
Once a cache is found by at least one cacher, it comes off the list the next week. The suggested caches (ONE by each cacher finding at least one cache on the list) will be added. The new caches will have a point value of "1", while unfound caches increase by a point.
PLEASE MODIFY your weekly submission should you find another cache off the list after your first submission. ONLY ONE WEEKLY SUBMISSION PER PLAYER, PLEASE. So, if you go caching and you submit your find from that outing, then go caching again and find another cache on the list, just find your original post for the week and edit it after each caching trip to update. You should only have one post in this thread every week you participate.
A scoreboard (similar to the current "Bullseye Relay" scoreboard will be updated every week by a qualified Lackey, to keep track of points you earn.
Here's the FINE PRINT rules:
* Caches from geocaching.com and opencaching.us are included. (That's for you, TH)
* You MUST find the caches on the "Laundry List" during the week beginning at 12am Sunday morning, ending midnight the following Saturday.
* You MUST list your finds for points in this topic for the week before Midnight on Saturday.
* Standard Geocaching Protocol for claiming a find - ONLY CLAIM caches that you find for the first time, and get a geocaching "Smiley" for the first time. Do not "re-find" old caches you have already found.
* You can suggest ANY cache you want (found by you, not found by you yet, or even placed by you) for next week's laundry list. Make them easy, make them hard, bring attention to lonely caches, spotlight GREAT caches, you get to choose!
* Any style of cache is fine - Traditional, Multi, Virtual, Puzzle, etc.
* Your suggested Cache may be an Event Cache, but the event must occur within the next week of your suggestion.
* Your suggested Cache MUST be in "GCGC" Territory (see the map in our logo: Mecklenberg, Iredell, Catawba, Lincoln, Gaston, Cleveland, Union, Anson, Stanly, Cabarrus, Rowan in NC, and Cherokee, York, Chester, Lancaster, and Chesterfield in SC).
* Your suggested Cache MUST be listed as ACTIVE on www.geocaching.com or www.opencaching.us
* If a cache on the list goes DISABLED, a Lackey will remove that cache from the list and add a cache of their choosing to the list.
* No caching teams for this - scores are for individuals
* In order to combat "list stagnation", should that be a problem, a qualified Lackey may add cache(s) to the list at the beginning of the week.
* Geocoin will be awarded to the winner of a random drawing from all participants at the end of the contest.
POINTS AND COIN CHANCES:
* Each participant gets ONE chance at the coin in the drawing (one time only to each participant).
* The cacher (or cachers) with most points each week gets a bonus Coin Chance (awarded weekly)
* "Winner" of the relay gets GCGC cred, bragging rights, and ONE MORE Coin Chance in the hat in the free coin drawing! (awarded one time only to the overall point winner)
* If there is a tie for first between different cachers at the end of the relay, all people tied for first will get an extra name in the free coin drawing.
* This Relay runs from January 1, 2015 to May 2, 2015
* The coin drawing will be sometime after May 2 - hopefully at a GCGC event.
* Last but not least, you get a "GCGC Point" for each week you participate. GCGC Points are good for GCGC cred and the "MOTY 2015" contest: www.charlottegeocaching.com/smf/index.php?topic=2459.0
Here's hoping this relay (like other relays) helps promote friendly competition and camaraderie between GCGCers! This relay is structured so there is no "race" to make the find, so take your time, maybe plan a group cache run to bond with your fellow GCGCers, and most of all HAVE FUN!
The first list will be announced: 1/1/15.
