Well, McCaching and I had quite an adventure yesterday. As we both work in Salisbury, on my workdays (I am a teacher) we, from time to time, take lunch and grab a cache or two. Today was suppose to be no different. I text McC to see when he went to lunch and when his 11 o'clock didn't show, I went to pick him up.
We both had not found 37 NC CWGT Salisbury Prison - Redux and would take this opportunity to grab it. When we arrived near GZ, I recognized this part of town. Not the best place to be, day or night. McCaching double checked the numbers, and we were in the right place. We figured the cache had to be in the shrubs, so we commenced to searching the shrubs, McC in his nice white dress shirt and slacks, and me in shorts and a T. The odd couple, you might say.
On my second time through the shrub, I saw something gleaming white. I grabbed it, assuming it to be trash, because we knew what the container should be, to discover that it was... a 22 caliber pistol. I quickly deposited it on the ground.
There was a wall nearby, so we both took a seat, and attempted to contact someone about it. I was able to reach the resource officer for my school who happens to be a Salisbury PD officer, and she sent two officers to our location. Once they arrived we went through the preliminaries, gave my license, discussed where I found it, where I touched it, etc. Once the business was complete, McC and I got to talk about geocaching!
I had some business cards printed up with the parks and police link for GC. (Yes, TH, I need to get them reprinted to include OCNA) so we gave them each a card and explained the importance of them each getting a premium membership for LEO's.
We hopped back in the van and back to McC work. One thing for sure, when we cache together, it's always an adventure (McC's words!) whether we find a cache or not! Who would have thunk...finding a pistol instead of a cache! Wowsers!
