Given the overwhelming usage of the site I am contemplating closing the GCGC Forum.
Talk me out of it.
It has been on my mind for years now.
We have few visitors and fewer posts. Has the site out lived it's usefulness?
Contests have no impact on visitiorship. Participation is down to one or two in any contest.
Posts are virtually non-existant with the exception of my own and a few from rvstauff
Visits are few and result in no conversation.
We do gain the occasional new member.
However they rarely return after signing up.
The most active thread is essentially my own non-geo-related Restoration thread,
And it is populated almost entirely by my own posts and have nothing to do with the Forum's purpose.
Forums in general are on the down swing and have been for some time.
A few do garner interest but I fail to be able to gain similar interest here.
Step 1: No longer renew the Charlottegeocaching.com domain ( due in Aug I think)
Step 2: Abandon this site
I could leave as a record of what once was even though it rarely was...(not sure how long Proboards will keep it with no activity)
I can Close for Maint and return with a revamped version retaining our uninterested members.
I can DELETE the site removing any trace (save the timemachine that may have parts)
I hate that the site is of no interest to geocachers in the area.
Is there an idea on how to regain usage?
I feel that the site as a Geocaching Club has no interest and it is little more than my own playground for having something on the web.
Suggestions on how to regain interest?
Shall I throw in the towel and just let it go?
Any one want to take over and attempt to "restart" the site on their own?
