Purser Hulsey Park
(Hwy 51 "Matthews - Mint Hill Rd" near Idlewild & Phillips Rd @ 51)
I would like to propose that we create a parallel Geocaching Center of the Universe to balance Idlewild Park.
Idlewild is nearly full. It has had some of the best caches to be found in the GCGC area.
One of the oldest in Charlotte, Easy ammo cans, creative puzzles, crafted hides, Alternative caches and just regular hides in the woods.
Many of the best are gone. Territory is still at a premium with only a few spots remaining open.
Let's do the same to PH Park.
shadowscape contacted me about a future hide in the park. This one along with my Dark Arts entry and one other (standard hide) put only 3 in a huge park.
There is room for many many more.
There are two main entrances with open grass land, water features, separate pine and hard woodlands riddled with trails, a few structures, fencing and parking.
PH Park is slightly smaller than Idlewild with bike trails instead of disk golf but with a better mix of land / environment types.
Let's fill this park with Top Quality GCGC Member caches.
No run of the mill boxes in the woods, micros zip tied to the fence but rather the most creative, well crafted, highly thought out caches.
If you are a hider or want to be, this could be a place to showcase the best concepts you have to offer in caching.
Create something with a theme using a crafty hide.
Make it a field puzzle with tools or parts.
Have unique retrieval or log access method.
Make it in your face or completely hidden from view.
Craft a gadget cache.
Whatever you may decide to hide, simple or difficult, make it something special.
Something that will draw others to the park and earn favorite points (or similar)
Something that YOU would have a hard time letting become archived and would be self urged to maintain.
I have one there that meets the concept.
shadowscape is planning another that will as well.
The other is pretty basic (we can let the non-members fill in with those)
