Don't know if any of you have heard of this but I just purchased one.
i wanted to be able to take written notes and integrate them digitally.
I first tried Rocketbook. A great concept that did not work for me as the pens did not tolerate heat sitting in a vehicle.
My eldest had the reMarkable tablet and after a few years of contemplation I finally purchased one.
This is a tablet with a total paper and pen vibe.
No distractions like color, video or notifications. Essentially a notebook in digital form.
A single notebook that has all your notebooks.
I like the feel, the tech and general concept.
It is different from most electronic devices in that it does one thing really well and little more.
It will take notes, drawings or anything else you would do on paper and holds it in a digital form.
Handwriting can be converted to type or left alone.
PDF's are easily added for viewing and markup.
I take a lot of notes that are often lost. This should help that.
I also like to reference PDF documents (laws, forms, label's and rules) in the field. This allows that easily.
The reMarkable Tablet:
You want a pen to write with...that's extra. (a standard that I got or one with an instant eraser)
A folio to hold it? That is not cheap. Or buy one on amazon that works for you as I did for under $20.
Comes with a 1 year subscription to "Connect" the best benefit of connect is handwriting to text conversion that I have yet to use but likely will.
After that it is like $3 a month.
This thing uses e-ink like a kindle. no color, just shades of gray.
No internet you can add "read to remarkable" extensions that allow you to send web pages or documents to the tablet as well as sending things from your email.
You can also add excel and PowerPoint this way.
You do have the ability to send documents to others or yourself via e-mail.
It is geared for students and general note takers with no distractions for creativity.
I already think that I am going to like this for years to come. I am a computer guy but still like the pen and paper of the past.
This appears to be the bridge I am looking for.
Notes are easily added and categorization is easy.
Essentially there are folders to hold individual notebooks and single note pages all in a digital form.
Check it out if pen and paper are your choice of reference yet digital is preferred in the end.
Drawing is a big add to the functions.
I will be using this for work and personal use.
Geocaching will find a place in my notes.
Anyone else use reMarkable? Tell me how
