It was 8:00 PM. I was sitting on my couch when I got a notification of a new 4/3 cache only 10 minutes away.
So I called my geo-pal Charlie Sheen to see if he would like to go on a FTF run with me. Guess I should use his Geo-nick, Tiger Blood. When he didn't answer, I grabbed my geo-bag thinking that I was going to tackle this one solo. However, just before I left I received a text from rvstauff saying that his wife was out of town and he would meet me at GZ! themulcher heard this and decided to join in on the fun.
So I hop in the geovehicle, pick up themulcher and get on our way. Just as we get on I-485, there was a bright light in the night sky! This time I'm sure it was not just another lamp post cache light. Little did I know just how right (and wrong) I was.
We arrived at the suggested parking area but couldn't find the "easy way" to GZ. So we decided that we would wait for the DNF Club Founder & President to arrive. We would simply go in the opposite direction he suggested. While we waited for "that guy", we read more about the description of the cache and realized none of us brought the right tools to help retrieve the cache.
Just then, we heard a loud CRASH! We looked up from our Geocaching App and the light is the sky was gone.
So was the light coming from our phone. Was it dead?
We thought MAYBE the battery died on the phone - we went back to the car to charge the phone, but the CAR WAS DEAD, too... ALL ELECTRONICS WERE DEAD!
That's when we heard heavy footsteps and growling coming towards us from the woods.
