Remember that cache you found some time ago? Maybe it was your first, maybe it was a special cache selected for your 100th or maybe it was just a cache that sticks in your mind as a favorite.... but it is gone now.
It has since been archived.
It’s time to bring back that great adventure for others to experience. Bring them BACK FROM THE DEAD!
The EASY Rules:
Find an archived cache you want to bring Back From The Dead. Place and submit for review ON JUNE 15. Go find other "BACK FROM THE DEAD" caches, rack up points, WIN A GEOCOIN!
More Details:
Search through your found caches or review the archived caches of your favorite hiders for that special cache that you would like to Bring Back From The Dead.
Go back to that once vital cache and see if there are any remains that can be re-animated to create your zombie version. If there are, you can use them to bring back a more accurate version with some history. If not then recreate the cache as completely as you can. Contact the CO or previous finders to learn any information you may need to bring your version to life. Either way will work but there are bonus points for using the remains.
Re-animators that need to start from scratch are encouraged to remain as true to the original as possible. Improvements of design, durability and craftsmanship are encouraged. Significant alterations may not gain the favor of previous finders.
THE DETAILED RULES:
Find a cache that you want to make your contest entry. The entry must meet the below criteria:
* The cache you wish to re-animate must be archived.
* The cache you wish to re-animate must not be your own.
* You do not need to have previously found it (but that will help you create a realistic version if you did).
You have until June 15th to research your selection and prepare everything for publication.
Caches should be titled as “ARCHIVED CACHE : Back From The Dead” ( where archived cache is the original name of the cache)
Submit your Back From the Dead Cache on June 15 (NOT BEFORE, we want them all to rise from the dead at about the same time)
Submissions must be active by July 1st ( This allows for problems in the review process)
Caches may be published on GC or OCNA (OCNA may allow for closer proximity rules when attempting to use the original location)
The cache location does not need to be the original but should reflect the original.
If you found and used remains of the archived cache during the research period, document the remains with photos and include these photos in the cache page description. If you feel the photos give away too much, please share the photos with TermiteHunter, rvstauff, or whoever they recommend to you for verification that the remains are "genuine" old cache remains.
The Find period will be from June 15th - August 31st
During this time the cache will be found by both GCGC members and no-members.
GCGC members participating in the contest that are 2nd to find following a FTF by a non-member will earn 2 bonus points credited to their own entry.
The entry found will also be awarded 1 bonus point for a 2nd to find by a GCGC member.
Entries will gain 1 point for each Favorite / Recommendation awarded to the cache.
Favorite / Recommendation points will be doubled for Back Form the Dead caches that used original parts and documented such in the description.
At the conclusion of the Find period a poll will be conducted on the GCGC website. Voters will consider the quality of the cache and how true the recreation is to the original. Entries will gain one point per vote in the poll.
The winner will be selected based on the GCGC poll votes + Favorite / recommendation points ( x2 for finding, using and documenting parts of the original) + 2nd to find Bonus points (earned and awarded). Should there be a tie in points, a coinflip for other random method will award the winner.
The winner will be awarded a GCGC Geocoin!
