This contest is a chance for you to be active in the GCGC as well as contribute to the 365 New Cache goal in the GCGC area.
You wanted to hide a cache. Why just hide any old cache? Be creative and make it an entry in the Theme Contest. Theme cache hides used to be a staple of the GCGC. We would have many contributors and the resulting caches were often above and beyond the norm. Bring back the excitement of creating a special and well crafted hide that members and others will really enjoy finding rather than just another box in the woods. Start thinking, the clock is ticking.
"Start thinking, the clock is ticking." My Motto for everything! This sounds like fun. I'm a little rusty but I'm sure I'll come up with something! Cheers! :-) (I'm a Nano Cacher! Must be I have not been active since the new Forum Board)

I forgot how painful the review process was with the Frog...
Submitted Friday. Nothing yet through Sunday.
They won't let you edit caches while in queue for approval. I am afraid of one thing on one of my caches may cause rejection... but, if I pull it back to edit, the cache goes back to the end of the line. Since it's been three days, I don't want to make the change.
Still nothing. I do fear that maybe the reviewers are like ... uhhhhh ... don't know if we want COVID-themed caches or not.
However, my caches are pretty much Public Service Announcements that are ubiquitous now.
It's killing me - I want to change a few things (minor things like the wording of things) as well as remove a reference to a business that will probably get the cache rejected (although it is stating that the cache was approved for placement by this person at this business). I wasn't thinking and would take it out now, but I don't want to take them out of queue to make the edit.
For Pete's sake - how many caches are getting reviewed, by the way? Geocaching is getting less popular. You would think a day or two turnaround would be all that's needed.
Also (and here's the Premium Member snob in me coming out)... what the heck are we paying for - a little extra responsiveness would be nice for those that actually pay to play. I would be willing to bet the customer service is a LOT more responsive at OCNA!

I just think they (reviewers) have taken the "volunteer" status to heart and have a set day and time they check the que and process until x amount of time runs out. Just have to figure out what day that is...
My last batch seemed to take forever to be reviewed then got approved together at about the same time. The number of new submissions can't be anywhere near what it was a several years ago.
That should be a paid member benefit. PM's get to edit up till approval and priority in the que.
I don't get the reasoning behind not allowing edits while waiting. I don't see them examining the page, piddling around, checking regulations and coordinates, delaying publication then coming back for approval. What difference does it really make anyway? You can edit in all sorts of unacceptable statements, photos and instructions short of moving the location several feet after publication. It's not like they are checking for that regularly.
Must have just missed the "cycle" submitting on Friday. It's Tuesday... I thought for sure they would be up on Sunday for some weekend cachers. Well, it might be up for THIS weekend's cachers!
They did say it could take up to 7 days. Back in the day, when Caching was in the heyday, 2 or 3 days would be a LOOOOONG time for a review.
I do respect the "volunteer" aspect of reviewing, and totally understand if this is a volunteer job. However, Groundspeak is a company collecting money from Premium Members with paid employees... Maybe Premium Members could get reviewed by the paid employees at HQ withing a day or two, and others would get reviewed by the volunteers.
I thought I would check my review time on the last few that I hid. It was better than I had thought. Most were published the next day. More than 24 hours but the next day. 2 were submitted on the same day. 1 took 3 days and another took 5.
You mentioned OCNA... We have had a steady flow of the few caches we get submitted up until 2-3 weeks ago. Now we are getting none. I suspect the numbers are down on GC as well given the few new ones in our area recently. OCNA caches usually get published within a day, perhaps 2. Except when it is what looks like a GC reject. (location denied because of local rules) We usually reject them as well except for proximity issues. Then we get the random cache with no information or incorrectly using the "OWN" cache type or failure to respond to other issues found in the submission.
I have opinions of my own, strong opinions, but I don't always agree with them. George H W Bush

lutzie86: So I definitely fell off the grid for a spell. But I came back and realized an entire relay came and went in the process. Congrats RV on the win! I was so inspired by your series that I did a cache run in Concord today and found all three.

Cleo73: Thanks. I'm finding I have to expand my geocaching radius, so thought this might be a good forum to get to know and to be kept in the loop for geocaching opportunities to the Charlotte area. Am planning a couple group day trips for geocaching in the area.
