A Hide Contest
Are you an experienced hider ready to step up your game?
Ready to hide your first and want to excel with an extreme cache as your first?
Then begin your delving into the Dark Arts.
What are the Geocaching Dark Arts?
Why, the art of caching in the dark of course.
The most popular version of caching in the dark is the typical Night Cache featuring a starting point that is the beginning of a trail where the cacher follows "Fire Tacks" (highly reflective multi angled tacks) attached to trees along the path leading to one or more stages in a cache hunt.
An example is, Dark in the Park by gbmcache . This one has been around since 2008 and is a prime example of the most common method.
There are other methods of caches intended to be found in the dark but this is the primary style.
Do you have a better or newer idea? Seen one of the other methods? Creative enough to come up with an entirely new way to cache at night?
The winning Dark Arts entry will receive a special Dark Arts Winner Medallion (perhaps a more tangible item if deemed exceptional)
How to play:
Create and publish a Dark Arts Cache during the challenge period.
Any cache listing site is acceptable. (GC, OCNA, TC, GPSGames)
Rules:
The cache listing must publish during the contest period.
Fav /Rec (eq) are tallied at the end of the contest period. (to be added to the poll accumulated after the contest. Fav / Rec (eq) added after the contest period are not included)
The cache must be intended to be found in the dark and must include significant element(s) that require darkness / limited light to complete the find.
Night need not be required as long as darkness / limited light is needed as a central element and theme in order to find the cache.
"Darkness" "Dark Arts" as a term for the occult is not intended and is not a substitution for the limited light requirement but is acceptable as a portion of a theme that includes limited light to find.
Any of the primary cache listing sites are acceptable (see above)
May be of any cache type or style accepted on those sites.
Caches may require special tools, night, natural light restriction, darkness creation or other methods to find.
Members may submit multiple entries (no limit)
Submit your entry(s) here.
How to win:
Entries will be voted on in a poll here on the GCGC after the contest period. (all members may vote on any cache)
Entries will be scored by number of poll votes plus 50% of any favorite / recommendation (equivalent) votes by non-members
Member Fav / Rec (eq) votes are counted as 33.3% of a vote (3 would be required for a single 50% vote)
Finding members may provide a Fav /Rec (eq) as well as a vote in the poll.
The highest total score wins.
Ties will be broken by tied CO's rolling a die here on the forum.
Contest Period is 4/1/22 - 6/30/22
Get in early to get more potential Fav / Rec (eq) points on your cache.
Join later with an exceptional entry with easy access for more members in hopes of a Poll victory
