I'm really just now looking into the VRC site, and getting myself interested. For lonely hotel days when I'm on the road with work, I could be out caching in the immediate area, AND logging VRC caches via street view from the NC area at night. Win/win for me. I think I could also use this on social media to help promote the GCGC. But in fairness, I really wanna make sure I understand exactly what/how to properly participate in VRC since I'm admittedly new. it seems VERY easy and fun, and maybe helps motivate couch cachers to get out and about which may, in turn, increase the activity here, and Geocaching abroad. Also, how "active" is VRC these days? I'm in for it, so I'll be logging some stuff for sure.
Now, for finding a VRC... I've watched TermiteHuner's videos there, and understand the "how to" just fine, and I see the folders listed by county, but I'm not finding any description (other than clever titles) of the location or hint. Is that part of the challenge, or should I be seeing some sort of "hint" or even coords for the locations? Also, it seems the threads are arranged by newest to oldest entry rather than oldest to newest, like they are here.
It seems that a lot of the images posted aren't showing up when I open the threads, and I think that might be a lot of my problem... Case in point, the Stanly County "Two Post Clock" VRC, I can't see the image at the bottom of the thread where the cache info is posted originally, however I can open the two "spoilers" and see that text just fine. I live in Stanly County so finding that location is no problem for me, but just for verification I might need to see the pics from other counties to make sure I'm in the right spot.
If we can potentially breathe new life into VRC, and increase traffic here and there, I'd definitely be willing to be a volunteer and do my part in at least my home county to add more VRC content by getting street view shots or coords or real life images.
