Just because the site is dim, it does not mean it is abandoned
When a topic strikes I will post and you should too..
This is regarding a fake log on 7th Inning Stretch. (Idlewild park coord.info/GC1TTM5)
Millasmommies12 logged a find on 9/7/23 for a find on 9/5/23 this was deleted when no signature was found on log and...
They also logged. The Lost Treasure of the Confederates the same day....Odd (not likely and as a single individual even less likely along with the time involved etc)
The logs were identical cut and paste with a blurb for 7th Inning and none for LTOC ....Odd. (if only either warrants a comment it was LTOC)
I had to check on 7th Inning for another reason and found no signature.
I deleted the log (with no explanation to the logger)
They log again (identical)
I get an email asking why it was deleted. I responded with why (No signature, the log type the bonus text on mine but not LTOC, the number of finds, out of state log, the difficulty of LTOC and more)
and ask for an explanation of why no signature and for a description of the hide as proof of find.
I contacted @madkiwiman (one of the Founders of The GCGC) to inform in of a potential fake log (with additional follow-ups over time)
I get a response from Millasmommies12 that is (paraphrased:) along the third base line near the electrical boxes in some sort of "blood vile container"
The location is too broad and can be discerned online or better in person. The blood vile container is flat out wrong and has nothing to do with the hide type that is unique (memorable)
I contact @madkiwiman again with more info
I repair the cache and photograph the log (no signature from MM12)
I delete log two days later and inform madkiwiman.
I feel that this is someone with a high find count (nearly 20,000) for a reason...
Finding a cache is not as important as logging a cache of high value (High fav points) perhaps only at this time (isn't there a contest of sorts on GC for this right now)
I find that some high number finders are just that, high number finders because they travel and have the time and experience.
Then there are those that claim a find on where they think it should have been or couldn't access the log but I found it, I need this find for some reason, I spent enough time looking and others.
Because I am a regular member I am not able to research what other finds were claimed at that time.
I got notice of LTOC because it is on a watch list.
I would appreciate that any that have a log from Millasmommies12 verify a find
If you are able, see what other finds were claimed and notify the CO(s).
While my lone deletion will do nothing, a concerted review by a local community might have an impact on their integrity when logging in the future..
